Hi beauties!
Today I'm going to be discussing two wonderful makeup products that I recently received from Influenster. I am specifically referring to the newly released Marc Jacobs beauty Liquid Lip Crème and Poutliner Longwearing lip liner. I received the Liquid Lip Crème in the shade Truth or Bare (454) and the Lip liner in (Prim)rose (304). As I always like to clarify, I can assure you that despite receiving this product for free I am providing my honest opinions for these products. What do I think about these lip products? Keep reading to find out.
Marc Jacobs Liquid Lip Crème (454) Truth or Bare
Packaging
In keeping with their minimalistic packaging theme, the liquid lip crème is packaged in a medium sized black and white box, similar to the box used for their Glow Stick highlighter (see my previous review for more details). They utilized the same classic font style for their Marc Jacobs brand. The Liquid Lip crème itself comes in a black plastic tube with silver trim and silver Marc Jacobs lettering. The use of a black tube incorporates the same minimal, sleek & classic design as their other beauty products. A unique feature of this product is the small circular window located towards the bottom of the tube. This window allows the user to easily view the color of the selected lipstick without having to search for the name or shade number on the bottom of the tube. I find this very convenient for fast and efficient selection of the color of lipstick I want to wear. The tube itself isn't too thick or too big which allows for easy transportation within a small clutch or bag for touchups on the go. The liquid lipstick features a medium-sized doe foot applicator which is perfect for dispensing and applying the right amount of product on your lips. Overall I find the packaging to be sophisticated, classic, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Product description
This product is described as a hydrating, 8 hour, long wearing liquid lipstick with bold, full coverage pigmentation. The product's formulation boasts Brazilian Cupuacu butter and collagen within their ingredient list to help lips stay plump and full all day long (8 hours). The formulation of this product excludes the use of parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. The formula also promises that it doesn't allow lips to appear lined or cracked. Additionally, the product has a subtle, stain sheen finish. The liquid lip crème itself is described as a medium dusty rose pink and retails for $28.00. I gathered all of this information from the Sephora website (thank you).
Product review
I personally enjoyed this liquid lipstick. I've tried many liquid lip sticks from several luxury and drug stores brands and this has to be one of my new favorites. I received the liquid lipstick in the shade Truth or Bare (454) which I would describe as a beautiful rose pink shade. I found that this complimented my olive toned complexion and feel that it would also flatter a wide variety of skin tones. This is a heavily pigmented liquid lipstick. For that reason I used it sparingly (one to two dips into the tube) which gave me even and full coverage. The texture of this product is very creamy and glides across your lips. While I don't find this lipstick drying I don't find it excessively hydrating either. This product doesn't completely dry down which translates into a formulation with some transfer throughout the day. I personally still found it to be very long wearing and can survive meals and drinks with some transfer (light reapplication might be necessary after certain meals or drinks). The formula really does make your lips look fuller and plumper. I do have full lips already but I noticed a difference in fullness after using the product. I do notice that the lipstick does have a slight sheen and wouldn't call it a matte formulation which is fine with me because I find that most matte formulations leave my lips feeling and looking dehydrated. I also noticed that this lipstick didn't appear to make my lips look cracked or dry throughout the day, although it may appear so at the end of the day if you didn't moisturize your lips prior to application. There is a very pleasant vanilla scent that I enjoyed. After reviewing the product description and it's claims I decided to give the product 4.5 stars because it matches its description. It has full coverage, is long lasting, makes lips appear fuller and plumper, doesn't make lips appear cracked, and has a satiny finish. I had to dock half a point because despite the creaminess of the formulation I didn't find it particularly hydrating (I recommend hydrating lips prior to application). If you asked me what I would like to see improved upon, in addition to the lack of hydration, I would say that I would love for it to be transfer proof. This, however, would probably make the formulation very drying and make lips appear less plump than how the formulation currently performs.
Le Marc Poutliner Long Wearing Lip Liner in (Prim)rose (304)
Packaging
In keeping with their minimalistic packaging theme, the liquid lip crème is packaged in a skinnier version of their liquid lip crème's black and white box. They utilized the same classic font style for their Marc Jacobs beauty brand. The Lip liner itself comes in a silver tube with black Marc Jacobs lettering. The bottom of the lip liner features a wide, printed band of the lip liner's color. This allows the wearer to quickly view the color of the lip liner without taking off the cap or looking at the end of the pencil. The design of the silver tube incorporates the same sleek & sophisticated design as their other beauty products. The pencil itself is slim and easy to hold. This allows for easy transportation within a small clutch or bag for touchups on the go. Another fantastic feature of this product is the fact that it is a mechanical lip liner. Instead of having to fuss with a pencil sharpener, the owner of this product can twist the bottom of the product to expose more of the lip liner as needed. Overall, I find the packaging to be sophisticated and unique.
Product description
This product is described as a long wearing, collagen-infused gel pencil lip liner. The lip liner is designed to line, define, and shape your lips. The collagen formulation boasts its barely there formulation and ability to fill in lines while preventing the liquid lip crème from bleeding. There was no listed or given description of the color of this lip liner but I found it to be a little lighter but very similar to the color of the Truth or Bare liquid lipstick. This lip liner retails for 24.00. I gathered all of this information from the Sephora website (thank you).
Product Review
In addition to the liquid lipstick, I also found that I enjoyed this lip liner. I received the lip liner in the shade (Prim)rose (304) which I would describe as a slightly lighter rose pink shade. I found that this blended well with the Truth or Bare liquid lipstick. It also complimented my olive toned complexion and in my opinion would flatter a wide variety of skin tones. This is a pigmented lip liner but not as pigmented as the liquid lipstick. I had to swipe the lip liner twice to get it to the level of pigmentation that I wanted (others may not have encounter this but I like my lip liner to be noticeable). This lip liner did apply evenly and provide full coverage even if I swiped it across my lips just once. The texture of this product is also creamy and comfortably glides across your lips. I feel that this might be the reason why I had to swipe it twice to get the darker pigmentation that I wanted. This lip liner with its twist up bottom allowed me to easily line and fill in my lips. It sufficiently kept my liquid lipstick in place and from bleeding outside of the outline I created. I found this to be long wearing as well and didn't find the need to reapply it throughout the day or even after meals & drinks. I personally don't over line my lips but imagine that the creaminess of the formula allows the wearer to create the illusion of fuller lips. After reviewing the product description and its claims I decided to give the product 5 stars because it matches its description of a "barely there color" that lines, defines, and shapes your lips. If you asked me what I would like to see improved I would have to say that I wish the lip liner was a little more pigmented like its counterpart, the liquid crème lipstick.
Thank you so much for reading lovelies! I hope you enjoyed reading my honest opinions of these fantastic products. While I would say that they are both splurge items they are definitely worth splurging on. I would love to pick up some more the next time I have some extra money because they are wonderful additions to any makeup collection. Please leave any questions or comments down below. I want to know, have you tried these products before? If you have please feel free to share your experience with these products down below. Stay tuned for another product review soon.
