Greetings lovelies!
I apologize for not having this blog post last week but I wanted to test this sports bra in two different active settings: the gym (weightlifting and low impact cardio) and outdoor running (medium to high impact). I will be posting two blog posts this week to make up for it. Let's get started!
If you haven't heard me talk about Influenster before than let me say that it is an amazing product review company. This company allows you to test a wide variety of products based upon your interests, what reviews you post, your demographic information, and most importantly, how influential you are on social media. I've been involved with Influenster for about 2 years and have a "high influence" score so I tend now to get invited to more campaigns. There are two different campaigns that you can get chosen for: virtual voxes and vox boxes. Virtual boxes are online campaigns that you can choose whether or not you want to participate in (I recommend you do because it will help increase your chances of winning prizes or getting invited to future vox boxes). Virtual voxes typically include coupons or incentives to try to get you to test whatever product the virtual vox is highlighting but doesn't usually include the product itself. Vox Boxes are actual campaigns in which Influenster makes you take a survey for and if you qualify you get sent a box full of items for you to sample (these are my favorite). They have a wide variety of boxes including miscellaneous boxes, Keurigs (yes, those boxes are few), Victoria Secret Sports bras (when they first came out), snacks, beauty products, etc. I've reviewed several voxes before (you can check them out on the new reviews & products tab).
This campaign was a virtual vox although I do believe a select few were selected for a box box in which they received both discount coupons and one free sports bra. In my email I received a 40% off coupon to try one of two types of sports bras offered by C9 Champions. I went with my mom to Target (she needed a sports bra too) and went shopping. I was highly impressed with the large variety of colors and styles of sports bras offered (low, medium, high impact support, lightly lined, not lined, medium lined, thin scrappy backs, etc.) Luckily Target was already having a sale on some of the varieties. The one that I wound up choosing (Power Core, Medium impact support) was NOT on sale but the one my mum got was. I choose this sports bra for three reasons:
1. The design is modern, chic, minimalistic, & unlike any sports bra I own.
2. I usually dislike bright neon colors but I decided to try this one.
3. I own high impact sports, this was medium & perfect for just weightlifting-light cardio.
Impressions/Review
With the 40% off coupon, this 20.00 sports bra came out to be $12.00 and some change (not bad for a store brand sports bra).
Quality: This sports bra is pretty decently made especially for the price. I didn't find any imperfections, snags, tears, unraveled seams, or damaged strap adjusters. This bra is lightly lined with cups and they are inserted (sewn in) very well. The only con about this is that if you have pointy or bigger nipples I would spend a little extra and get their sports bra that comes in with modesty petals. (9/10)
Comfort: This sports bra is made of soft material for the bra. I didn't feel as if it was itchy or irritating. I wore this bra in two different active settings to test the efficacy of it. Even when running outside I found the bra to be comfortable. The only con I have to say about this bra is that the straps on this particular style are rather thick. They are also made of a comfortable material but because this is a medium impact bra and I wanted to make sure my breasts were well protected, I made sure the straps were adjusted to fit me well. As a result, I felt as though these straps dug into the front of my chest and they left red marks in the front that dissipated after twenty minutes. Perhaps I can loosen them and this won't be a problem. (8.5/10).
Efficacy: As you know I tested this bra in two different active setting (gym and outdoors). During the gym trial I did only low impact weightlifting and low impact cardio (stair climber, walking on a treadmill). The bra easily kept me feeling supported and didn't feel uncomfortable or itchy. In the outdoor running setting (medium-high impact) I really wanted to test the efficacy of this bra so I amped up my run and I'm incredibly sore right now to prove it. Even though this is a medium impact support bra I felt that this bra easily supported me throughout my whole run. I have to admit, I do have a small chest, mostly a gift but sometimes a curse, so I cannot say if this finding would be the same if I had a more ample bosom. I didn't feel my bosom bouncing up and down and this design kept everything in place, no danger of anything making an appearance. Again, the straps and how much they dug into my chest did make it a bit uncomfortable once I took it off and noticed the red lines but a strap adjustment might yet fix this. (9.5/10)
Style: I thought this was a very unique style of a sports bra, modern, minimalistic while still being feminine and chic. They offered this style in other colors and many different designs and patterns, a lot more than I anticipated. My particular style of sports bra even had matching neon yellow and grey Capri (I needed to go back and get these a t some point). (10/10).
Overall I was pretty impressed with this sports bra, especially since I've product tested Victoria's Secret sports bras with Influenster before (avg rating 9.2/10). If I had to compare them I would still say Victoria's is still my absolute favorite only because the quality, comfort and support are still better than this one but they are a lot more expensive than this bra (30.00-60.00 per bra). This surpassed the expectations that I had for it. I would highly recommend it especially if you are looking for a few more affordable, low-medium support options (they have high impact as well but these tend to be a little pricier).
Has anyone else tried this brand and/or different styles of this company's sports bras? What do you think about them?
