Hi Beauties!
Today I am going to be sharing my experience and review of a new Korean beauty product from Ha Kyung called the Daily TheMo Shampoo. I was approached by Minnie Park, the owner and moderator of the Instagram beauty account @Minibbeauty, a few weeks ago. She wanted me to write a honest and detailed review for this product. I was ecstatic when she offered me the chance to try this product because I have never tried shampoo from a Korean company before. I was provided this product for free but I assure you that these are my honest opinions. Was this shampoo a hit or a miss? Keep reading to find out!
Ha Kyung Daily TheMo Shampoo
Packaging
This company takes a minimalist approach to the packaging of all of their products. The shampoo has a light sage green band on the box on top of a field of white. The company's logo is clearly featured towards the top of the box surrounded by a border of leaves. I find the box to be appealing because of its minimalist design.
Additionally, the shampoo itself comes in a plastic bottle. The bottle maintains the same minimalist theme as the box. The bottle also featured a light green sage green band with a white background. The company's logo is also neatly featured towards the top of the bottle with the same border of leaves. Unlike most American shampoos, this shampoo includes a pump dispenser. This simple but very thoughtful feature allowed me to easily dispense an equal amount of product into my hand. It saved me from having to slap the bottle to dispense the product or unscrew the top so that I can put excess product back into the bottle. Overall, I find the packaging to be professional, appealing, and efficient for easy access to the product.
Product Description
I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies in translation. I am not fluent in reading Hangul so I utilized my trusty Google Translation App on my phone. All of the following information was translated directly from the product's packaging or from the product company's website (www.hknaturewell.com).
The box states that the main features of this product are as follows: strengthening the root of the hair, scalp enhancement (salicylic acid), hair stability, keeping the scalp calm, and supplies nutrition to both the hair and your scalp. The role of the shampoo is to clean hair of dirt and dandruff. Additionally, the shampoo works to strengthen the root of the hair, harden the scalp, and maintain the health of your hair and scalp.
The shampoo utilizes 100% plant derived surfactant (compound that lowers the surface tension between a solid and a liquid or between two solids) to make your scalp and hair beautiful. There are three main ingredients listed on the website that contribute to the effectiveness of the product.
Henna extract: Takes damaged hair with dandruff and calms it down. It clears the scalp of itching and prevents further damage to the hair.
Niacin 0H7101: This gives moisturizing and anti-aging effects to the skin. Additionally, Niacin increases moisture retention and softens the skin. This also helps with the skin's elasticity and vitality which plays an essential part in maintaining the skin's barrier as well as preventing ceramide damage.
Salicylic acid: This improves and protects the seborrheic scalp. This helps with deep karatinocytes accumulated in the pores and sebaceous glands.

Product Review
I am going to start this review out with a disclaimer that I have very finicky hair that tends to be very picky about the use of certain shampoos. Often, certain shampoos will cause my hair to feel greasy (only in the back of my head). I also tend to get dandruff occasionally. Usually I shampoo my roots and bring the foam down to the back of head adding a little extra shampoo, if needed. Conditioner is strictly added to my hair at the length starting right beneath the tips of my earlobes and down to the very ends. These tips were recommended to me by hair styling/cutting professionals from Aveda.
The shampoo has a gel-like consistency with a translucent, gold appearance. The product has a strong peppermint, herbal scent that I find to be refreshing. If you are sensitive to strong scents I would advise caution because I continued to smell this product throughout application and lathering. Personally, I find the scent to be relaxing. I suspect that the menthol and/or peppermint stimulates your scalp and gives a mild, tingling sensation. I also found this feature to be pleasant and enjoyable. This product lathers up fairly well and easily.
I used this product several times within the past two weeks. My hair went through an unexpected purging period where all of the buildup that I had on my scalp seemed to be coming out. This led to more frequent washing. I noticed that after this purging period my scalp was no longer flaky, I no longer had any dandruff, my scalp looked healthier, and appeared tougher. In addition to its purging and cleansing properties, I noticed my hair looked shinier and less frizzy. This shampoo didn't appear to strip my hair of its natural oils or leave it incredibly dry. I also didn't find it particularly moisturizing. After two uses, I used a light conditioner for the middle to ends of my hair. I would recommend the same to others. I also found that after several washes with this shampoo the back of my head started to get greasy regardless of whether I adjusted the amount of product used or whether I air dried or used a hair dryer. I would recommend not putting too much shampoo below your scalp and the top of your head for that reason. Not everyone will encounter this problem but I want to give the warning just in case you tend to have finicky hair like me.
Overall, I like this product! I didn't expect it to cleanse my scalp as well as it did. It is very effective for removing buildup on your hair and scalp. My only criticism that I have is that I wish it hadn't made the back of head greasy. I suspect that it may be from the peppermint ingredient because I've noticed this has happened in a different detoxifying shampoo that also utilized mint as a main ingredient. I believe that while the peppermint/mint is perfect for cleansing the hair of buildup it also dehydrates my scalp and stimulates oil formation to make up for the lack of moisture. Luckily that only occurs in the back of my head and not on my scalp. I will continue to use this shampoos once or twice monthly in between washing with my other shampoo in order to maintain healthy, strong, shiny hair, and a dandruff free scalp. Again, I don't believe this is something that everyone will experience when they use this product.
I would rate this product a 4.0/5.0 for effective scalp cleansing, buildup removal, and shine enhancing properties. I had to deduct a point because it made my hair greasy a few times regardless of whether I used less or more product or, air dried or utilized a hair dryer. Perhaps if the peppermint concentration was lowered my hair wouldn't get greasy? I'm not sure but it's the only suggestion I have because everything else worked perfectly!
Thank you so much for reading about this exciting new product! It's very hard to find effective products that boast a stellar, all-natural ingredients list. I am hoping that this product, along with others from this company, become more readily accessible here in the U.S. Thank you Minnie and Ha Kyung for allowing me to try this all-natural, great cleansing shampoo! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to comment below.
